so i haven't written anything more than a postcard since we got to st. lucia. can't say that i feel more motivated at the moment then to make a list of the food that i ate or to record the things i've seen so far. it's nice to do nothing more than sun and swim and to have no decision bigger than "what do i eat?" or "what should i drink?"
today is sunny and warm, just like yesterday. hurricane episilon made it rain like crazy on saturday night, but it was nice listening to the rain on the metal roof. it's rained sporatically today alread, but with the sun out. so we snapped a photo of the rainbow.
as usual i brought way more clothes than i need, but i guess i'll figure that out next time. the stonefield villas is the kind of place i would not mind returning to -- it's like renting a cottage with a pool rather than staying in a hotel. i would imagine that this is like the old school muskoka resorters or the ones in the pocanos, just with a more laid back dress code and much better weather.
my mother would hate it. too much nature in the house and no a/c. but i like the lizard house pets. the husband can't get enough of them either. he's also feeding all the animals he can -- the skinny cat family by the restaurant, the birds -- he's attracted quite a following.
considering the trip didn't start as planned (no pedicure) or smoothly (poor rear-ended equinox and marge, all of us missed the dinner out at the keg), this trip has been amazing so far.
the husband is getting a massage right now on our deck overlooking the piton and the ocean. the birds are looking for bread crumbs and the construction workers are trying to finish more villas and add pools before christmas and the high season. but the workers are surprisingly quiet.
everything seems well orchestrated. we think they must get a lot of cranky american tourists since they are always worried if everything is ok.
our view is quite spectacular -- just tons of ocean and the pitons broken up by tons of lush, green plants and trees. it's really amazing. the husband is loving all the sailboats so it's good we're going out in a boat on wednesday at sunset.
it's funny but we can also very occasionally smell the sulfur from the volcano and the sulfur springs. the jury is still out if we will be going there -- it's included in our package, but we've already been.
we are getting plenty of sleep with no tv -- it's easy just to go to bed after dinner so by the time we head home the bags under my eyes should be 100% gone and i should look a lot better. working on my tan gradually is probably helping too. i only have a smattering of sunburn on my nose.
